Federation University's discontinuation of Bachelor of Arts

Federation University has announced that its Bachelor of Arts degree course will be discontinued from 2023.

On behalf of professional historians around the country, Professional Historians Australia President Carmel Black has written to Federation University’s Chancellor and Acting Vice-Chancellor, as well as the federal and Victorian state ministers for education, to voice our alarm and concern about this plan. This move sets a dangerous precedent for other universities. We believe that the serious impacts of cutting humanities courses will be far-reaching for Australia’s workforce, and political, social and cultural fabric.
