Site Guide
A GUIDE TO THE ACPHA WEB
SITE
The ACPHA Web site carries
material relevant to the practice of history and membership of the seven
Australian Professional Historians Associations that constitute ACPHA.
-
The Home
Page provides links to the four general information pages below and
to information provided by each state and territory PHA. There is also
a quick-link facility on this page to go direct to key information topics
such as membership.
-
The Directory
page has contact details for the PHA members who are ACPHA office bearers
and/or management officers.
-
The Services
page contains information on: Accreditation and membership; Careers
and training in history; Code of Ethics; Commissioning history; Consultants
registers and employment services; Member services and activities; Publications;
and Scale of Fees. Most of these headings are self-explanatory but it is
worth noting that both the National Discussion Forum for PHA members and
information about Continuing Professional Development are accessed through
Member services and activities. Information about Public History Review
(a national journal) can be accessed under the Publications heading.
-
The Links
page covers: Other History Organisations; Business and Practice Issues;
Careers and Training in History; History Resources; Libraries; Museums;
Registries and Archives; and the Internet and Digital History. The subject
emphasis is on professional history and general history research resources.
The geographical emphasis is on Australian, New Zealand and international
sites in that order of detail. Where possible, good 'gateway' sites have
been selected, allowing the user to find further sites.
-
The What's
On in History page is a monthly or bi-monthly calendar of history events
in Australia and the Pacific region. The page is under continuing development,
and events in additional regions are added as they come to hand. When known,
events in the early part of the following month are also listed. There
is also an archive of past What's On events.
The seven independent associations
in ACPHA are gradually moving closer to their goal of national parity and,
as each step is completed, additional or revised material is placed on
the Web site. The ultimate objective is to provide members and prospective
members with a wide range of useful up-to-date information on both the
practice of history and PHA membership.
