ACPHA represents Professional Historians Associations in all Australian states and some territories. Individually these associations have developed many services, activities and guidelines for their members, their members' clients, and general community interest and education. ACPHA is in the process of liaising with its member associations to consolidate those of the services and guidelines that are nationally applicable, for example the Code of Ethics. As these national standards come into effect they are being placed on this Web site and can be accessed through this page.
This page will also provide useful links to association-based services, activities and guidelines. Wherever the state and territory associations are referred to here, return to the Home Page and click on the link to the relevant state or territory.
All members of Professional Historians Associations in Australia are accredited to a national standard which guarantees the level to which they are qualified and experienced. To read about accreditation and how to become a member of a Professional Historians Association click here .

A variety of publications on professional and public history is available from the associations. These include regular newsletters, occasional monographs, and brochures, many of which cover some of the topics listed above. Contact the associations for further information. Summaries of some of the associations' publications (together with downloadable versions of some publications) are available on their Web sites. Return to the Home Page and follow the links to the state and territory associations.
ACPHA publishes an electronic Members' Work Database on this Web site. This is a catalogue of work produced by historians who are members of the various State and Territory Professional Historians Associations. The database is primarily intended to record unpublished work, including material that is held by clients (sometimes on a confidential basis or which is not for general release). This is not usually recorded in public catalogues or search engines. While an individual historian may choose to include published works, in most cases the database will not contain a complete record of all of the work they have produced.
